GERBA (Djerba), Tunisia

Gerba was the target of several raids by the Aragonese fleet. The isand had a good anchorage and was strategically located on the North African coast. Roger de Lauria would build the castle Bordj el-Kebir in 1284 following the first raid. It would later be expanded by the Spanish and then the Turks.
